Album Info:Didn't go as planned...twice! First off the RDC3 couldn't make the Jim Thorpe trip so the RDC1 that was going to go solo to Pottsville was replaced by a GP38-2 and 2 of the recently acquired Iowa Pacific coaches. Couldn't get the Geep started the next day so an SD50-GP39RN set took charge. Good teamwork by the Reading and Northern staff to adapt to the drama. Also shot the RDC1 set on the Jim Thorpe service, some of the recent additions to the passenger car fleet and a look at the scene at Port Clinton.

Title:  RBMN 451 interior
Description:  Pullman 1926-built for the Southern as 60-seat coach #1649. Converted in 1955 at Hayne Shop with air conditioning, expanded washroom lounges 46-seats. arched roof, single sealed windows and renumbered 1066. Donated to Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in 1969 ,where at some point the AC was removed and single hung windows installed. Sold at TVRM bankruptcy auction (1985?) to Waccamaw Coast Line/Carolina Southern, renumbered 1903 and named "S.A. Beasley”. Roller bearings were added in Conway SC in 2012 when sold to Iowa Pacific. Assigned to San Luis and Rio Grande, upgraded with HEP, painted in Illinois Central colors and renumbered back to #1066. Sold at auction to Reading and Northern in 2021 and renumbered 451.

Description:  Built by Budd in 1947 (lot 2198) as New York Central 44 seat diner #448..to Penn Central #4548 in 1968...sold to High Iron Company 1969...renumbered back to #448, lettered American Freedom Train and used on test runs with 4-8-4 #1 but never used on the AFT. Stored in New Orleans (dates?) then sold to private ownership in 2008. Upgraded to Amtrak specs by 2009 and assigned the reporting marks SMLX and Amtrak private car number 800612, later changed to 800448. Sold to Iowa Pacific in 2014 and leased by Burlington Northern Santa Fe until August 2015. Returned to Iowa Pacific and painted/wrapped in Illinois Central colors. Sold to Reading and Northern at auction in 2021 and renumbered RBMN 1166.
