PRR 9815, EF-15A, 1964
Tipton. Here is an original photo that I took in Tipton, Pennsylvania, on 12 July 1964. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9815 and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9815 is an EF-15A built in April of 1951 and retired in November of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. They're pulling a 140-car mixed-cargo freight train out of Enola to Altoona and points West.
